spiKe - how does it work

Sometimes you have something to do and, somehow, you still don’t start.

Not necessarily because you don’t want to. You may even know exactly what needs to be done. It’s just that when you look at the whole thing, it feels like too much.

Maybe there are too many things at once. Maybe you don’t know which one comes first. Maybe you started, but somewhere along the way you ended up doing something completely different. Or maybe you’ve spent so long thinking about where to start that you now need a break from all that thinking.

So there you are, with the whole thing sitting in front of you and the feeling that you should be doing something. Anything. Except “anything” isn’t very helpful when everything seems to be shouting at the same time.

That’s usually when the classic solution arrives: you need to get more organized. Make a plan. Set priorities. Focus. Maybe even make a list of all the things you need to do before you can start the thing you were supposed to be doing in the first place.

Which is great, especially when the problem was that it already felt like too much.

But what if, just for a moment, we stopped looking at all of it?

What if we put the whole list aside, along with the finish line and everything that comes after, and looked only at what’s right in front of us?

One thing.

Something small enough for you to say, “Yeah. I can do that.”

You don’t need to see the whole road before you start moving. You don’t need to know what happens after step five, and you definitely don’t need to have your entire life sorted out by Thursday.

Sometimes you just need one move you can make now.

ONE MOVE AT A TIME.

That’s about where spiKe comes into the story.

It doesn’t show up carrying a binder or a 14-part master plan. You simply tell it, roughly, where you are right now. You don’t need to build a strategy or explain everything that’s happened over the past three weeks.

spiKe looks at where you are and tries to find one small, clear next move.

If that still feels too big, you say so. We make it smaller. Still too much? We make it smaller again.

And if we reach the point where the move is already small and it still isn’t happening, maybe size isn’t the problem anymore. Maybe something else is getting in the way.

At that point, there’s not much sense in making the same thing smaller and smaller until we’re trying to do it with tweezers.

So we change direction.

What’s stopping you?

Maybe the answer points us towards a different way forward. So we go that way.

That’s it.

spiKe doesn’t organize your life. It doesn’t build your schedule for the next six months, and it doesn’t ask you to fill in 47 fields explaining why you don’t feel like filling in 47 fields.

It just tries to help you move from “this is too much” to “I can do this.”

And once you’ve done it, you don’t need to rush into solving everything that comes next.

For now, you made the move that was right in front of you.

The rest can wait a little.

ONE MOVE AT A TIME.
